Exploring the Charm of the Popular Line Ramen Shop 'Ramen Ryuno-ya' in Shinjuku, Tokyo

In a small alley in Shinjuku, Tokyo, there is a famous shop where the line never ends day and night. Its name is 'Ramen Ryuno-ya Shinjuku Kotakibashi Street Shop'. The shop's signature menu is the exquisite tsukemen with plenty of motsu.

Reasons for the Popularity of Tsukemen with Plenty of Motsu

The charm of tsukemen lies in being served with the soup and the men-tsu-yu separately, allowing you to enjoy it at your preferred richness. Here, it is also possible to have an extra large portion of motsu. You can thoroughly enjoy the exquisite taste that spreads throughout your mouth as you chew.

"I visited on a Friday night, and there was a line before the opening. After waiting for about an hour, I entered and ordered the Special Tsukemen with Extra Motsu and the Chashu Don. I was impressed by the service of also serving porridge at the end." (Male in his 30s)

Spreading Flavor of Raw Motsu in the Mouth

As you chew, the umami of the meat spreads in your mouth. The skin is crispy and fragrant, while the inside has a smooth texture that is appealing.

"The motsu, although small, had a fantastic crispy texture. The presence of motsu was more subdued than I had expected, but it went very well with the soup." (Male in his 40s)

A Popular Shop Where Lines Are Inevitable, Yet Unmatched Hospitality

Despite being a popular shop with long lines, there are homemade condiments like takana, ginger, and moyashi (bean sprouts) available for free inside the shop. It's also appealing that you can enjoy various arrangements according to your preference.

"The variety of seasonings is wonderful, and they also offer sesame seeds and tare. It's great to have something to nibble on while waiting." (Male in his 50s)

Furthermore, the staff's service is impeccable, and they are also giving polite explanations to foreign tourists. It's worth paying attention to the hospitality unique to a genuine popular shop.

One of the best meal during my stay in Japan. Even though we had to wait so long but it's just worth. The ramen was so good, the soup is sweet. Staffs are friendly and professional. Highly recommended.

Excellent ramen. The broth, noodles, egg, and vegetable toppings were all awesome. The chashu pork was good also, but not amazing. It would have been better if it was a little thicker and more tender. The pork rice bowl was decent, but not amazing. It had some spices or marinade that made it taste like BBQ pulled pork. Overall a very solid bowl of ramen.

must try if you’re in Shinjuku area—best ramen I’ve had in my life and it’s not even close (and it’s so cheap!). expect to wait in line for 45+ minutes if you’re not there at an odd time, but totally worth the wait. love the sides of pickled ginger and bean sprouts they give you as well.

Impeccable! Probably one of the best ramen I have ever eaten so far. The texture of the noodles is really better than Ichiran, I’m also an ichiran fan. 😂 Went there to queue at 1045, before the restaurant opens. Was seated at about 1130am. But the queue was worth it. The meat was thick and good, oh the egg as well! I love the springy noodles. The dry ramen is also a MUST try. This ramen restaurant offers sides dishes too, like your bean sprouts. You can choose a “smaller” portion of noodles too when ordering at the machine. Service was excellent too! If you order the dry ramen/dipping noodles, you can ask for porridge at the end. This is the first ever porridge I ever tried in Japan! The broth with the porridge is so flavourful! Surprised and yet pleasant meal! 🥰

I've tried ramen all over Japan and I have to say this is one of the best I've had. Came here for dinner with my lawyer and we both loved it. Line was long but didn't take too much time before we were able to eat. The ramen is rich and flavorful and the noodles are a bit thinner but no less delicious. The egg and chashu were exceptional. I can't wait to come back.
