'Ramen Kuukai' located in Naha's Oroku is known as a beloved ramen shop among locals. After moving from its previous location in Omoromachi, it has gained even more fans.
Step into the shop and you're welcomed by an elegant bar-like ambiance. Yet, the menu reveals a typical Chinatown allure packed within. Handwritten menus on the wall, adorned with playful illustrations by the staff, create a warm atmosphere.
Kuukai's signature dish is undoubtedly the soy sauce ramen. The fine curly noodles are rich in wheat flavor with a chewy texture. The gentle-flavored broth evokes a sense of nostalgia. Toppings like bamboo shoots, char siu, chopped leeks, bean sprouts, and wakame create a well-balanced bowl.
Besides soy sauce ramen, staminatan ramen and cold Chinese noodles are also available to match the season. Additionally, side dishes like fried rice and dumplings are abundant. Beef with green pepper stir-fry, in particular, is a dish with thick green pepper that pairs excellently.
A bowl of ramen is around 800 yen, which is one of its attractions. With 1000 yen, you can enjoy a satisfying meal.
