Tourist attraction • Shinjuku Chuo Park, 2-chōme-11-11 Nishishinjuku, Shinjuku City, Tokyo 160-0023, Japan
Quietly standing in the heart of Shinjuku, the Shinjuku Chuo Park houses a place known for plum blossoms called the 'Silver World of Plum Blossoms'. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, enveloped in flowers and greenery, this place is reminiscent of a small Kyoto.
The Silver World of Plum Blossoms is an ancient place that has continued since the Edo period. There are about 650 plum trees planted in the garden, and various varieties from early to late blooming can be enjoyed. The 'Shirokaga' with its silvery white petals is the garden's specialty, and the best viewing period is from late February to early March.
Right next to the plum garden, a pond and a promenade-style Japanese garden have also been established. As you walk through the garden, small paths and a lawn will appear before you. Along with the plum blossoms, you can enjoy the seasonal scenery. Encountering such a quiet and quaint space in the city, it can truly be called a small Kyoto in the city.
One of the unique pleasures of a plum blossom spot is the souvenir shops. Within the garden, there are shops selling pickled plums and plum wine. In between flower viewing, you should be able to fully enjoy the charm of plums through their scent and taste.
If you want to spend a peaceful moment in the city, why not visit the Silver World Plum Garden? In the heart of this metropolis, a quaint atmosphere akin to that of a small Kyoto awaits.
