Finding Comfort in the Way of Tea, the Traditional Japanese Spirit

The Furukawa Museum Annex, For the Sake of Saburou Memorial Museum, stands in a quiet residential area in Chikusa Ward. This small building is a space filled with Japanese aesthetics and thoughtfulness.

A Residence Filled with History and Dignity

The memorial museum is a tea-ceremony architecture residence once inhabited by the ceramic artist, Furukawa Saburou. It now serves as a branch of the museum, hosting special exhibitions of traditional crafts.

Viewing the Japanese Garden from the Window

The view of the garden from the tea room is filled with colors that change with the seasons. Lush greenery in spring, vibrant foliage in autumn, and subtle yet striking dry landscape gardens. Simply enjoying the scenery brings a sense of peace to the heart.

Moments of Bliss with Matcha and Japanese Sweets

At the teahouse cafe overlooking the inner courtyard, you can enjoy authentic matcha and seasonal Japanese sweets. The matcha has a deep, rich flavor with a refined bitterness that is comforting. The simple sweetness of the seasonal confectionery, savored with each bite, brings a sense of tranquil happiness.

Forget the hustle and bustle of modern society, and come touch the traditional spirit here. At the Furukawa Museum Annex, awaits a special time to fully appreciate the beauty of Japan.

It's been a long time since I last visited Furukawa's house. This time there are many fascinating exhibits. There are so many exhibits 🤩 You'll want to take pictures. In honor of Matcha and Bean Throwing Day, we're happy to offer Japanese sweets shaped like "oni👹"!

This is my first visit since the Japanese Traditional Crafts Exhibition was held separately in the main building and branch building. The location is right next to Chikusa Police Station, and there is a small parking lot across from the police station. You can enjoy the buildings and gardens that take advantage of the natural topography. At the cafe, you can choose between a counter seat by the window or a table seat inside.

It was my first time visiting a place like this and it was very nice. I don't know much about it so it's just a feeling, but the garden that I could see from my window and the buildings that I saw from the garden were so beautiful that I fell in love with them. Walking around the garden felt like an adventure. I had some sweets by the window, but it was very relaxing. It was a great time. I can stay forever🥺 The lady at the reception and the person cleaning the garden kindly greeted me ♡ I didn't have much time so I only saw the branch, but next time I'd like to see the museum as well.
