Ise Grand Shrine Naiku, also known as Kotai Jingu, is a sacred place known as the center of Japan's spiritual culture. Located in Ise City, Mie Prefecture, this shrine has long attracted numerous worshippers as the most sacred place in Japan, enshrining Amaterasu Omikami.
The history of Naiku dates back around 2000 years. Through the Shikinen Sengu ceremony held every 20 years, the buildings are constantly renewed while their sanctity and traditions are perpetuated. Walking along the cedar-lined path, you will feel as if time has stopped, enveloped in a tranquil atmosphere.
Spanning the Isuzu River, Ujibashi Bridge is a symbolic link between this world and the other. Crossing the bridge is believed to cleanse the soul.
Although the main hall is not open to the public, its mystical presence can be felt even from afar.
In the kaguraden where festivals are held, kagura (sacred dances) are occasionally performed, offering a taste of the sacred atmosphere.
The dense forest surrounding Naiku is a manifestation of the sacred area itself. Breathing in the pure air, you will feel released from the hustle and bustle of daily life, refreshing both body and mind.
