The Blood Pond Hell is one of the eight hells of Beppu. Its mysterious red color is caused by the oxidation of iron-containing hot springs when exposed to air. If you get a close look at the vividly dyed pond like a pool of blood, it seems as if the world of hell is spreading out right in front of you.
Walking around the pond, you will occasionally feel the heat from the steam. The red color of this pond is truly the blood of the earth. It seems that the remnants of ancient volcanic activity are still alive and well.
Next to the Blood Pond, there is a souvenir shop. Here, limited bath agents, skin care products, and miraculous ointments are sold, allowing visitors to enjoy the charm of hot springs and sightseeing.
There is also a foot bath next to the shop, where visitors can enjoy a moment of rest. If you soak your feet, heated by the heat of the Blood Pond, in the warm water, you may feel like you are immersed in the world of hell.
