Located in the hinterland of Aomori Prefecture, this group of lakes boasts beautiful scenery, as if jewels were scattered. The natural fabric woven by the thirteen lakes shows a variety of expressions throughout the seasons. In spring, there are fresh green leaves, in summer, a magnificent sunset reflected on the lake, in autumn, the surrounding mountains are dyed in bright red leaves, and in winter, the spectacle of the lake surface frozen in ice, providing fresh surprises on each visit.
Lake Jusanko is also known as a village that prospered in clam fishing in the past. There are still small fishing villages dotted around the lake, where traditional clam fishing is still practiced, and there are many restaurants where you can enjoy fresh clam dishes. You can enjoy unique local flavors such as clam soup and grilled clams.
Lake Jusanko is about a 1.5-hour drive from Aomori city. A walking path is provided around the lake, allowing you to leisurely enjoy the lakeside scenery. In the center, there is a wooden bridge, and the mysterious shimmer of the lake water can be seen from there, which is a must-see. Also, the view of the windmills reflected on the lake surface at dusk is also a wonderful sight.
