Tama Castle Hill is dotted with solemn tumuli where the spirits of ancient magnates who governed the Nara region reside. Even with the passage of time, their magnificence has not faded, and by advancing into the remaining stone chambers, one can reminisce about the past prosperity.
As you proceed along the mountain path, you will come across quietly standing tumuli. The stone chamber of Tumulus No. 1 is open, and it is possible to step inside. By pondering in this place where a collective stone coffin was placed, you may be able to feel the profound world of spirits.
By gazing at the enormous mound of Tumulus No. 2, one can glimpse the effort put into its construction during that time. From its grand scale, one can imagine the power and high status of the ancient magnates. Tumulus No. 3 also offers a glimpse of that aspect.
